This course is part of the accredited MPH/Dietetic Internship that will serve 38 dietetic interns throughout Tampa Bay. Evidenced-based practice is critical for entry-level dietetics practice.

At the completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate mastery level attainment of each of the following:
1. basic descriptive statistics including measures of central tendency, dispersion, and relationships;
2. basic measurement concepts including validity and reliability and the role of measurement in inquiry;
3. common and differentiating features of basic, applied, and evaluation research;
4. common and differentiating features of typical research designs (e.g. quantitative vs. qualitative, experimental vs. non-experimental, group vs. single-case);
5. quality indicators in published research;
6. ethical, legal, and diversity considerations in research studies.

F. Student Expectations/Requirements and Grading Policy
Students are expected to read the assigned materials carefully, apply course topics in thoughtful and critical responses to discussions. Students are expected to complete all assignments on time. Late assignments will be penalized by 20% for each 24 hours of tardiness or fraction thereof. Exceptions to this policy will be made only in the case of severe illness, documented family emergency, or similar problem.
The final course grade will be determined according to the following percentages:
90 – 100 = A
80 – 89 = B
70 – 79 = C
60 – 69 = D
