New graduate nurses are expected upon graduation to be equipped with a variety of leadership skills in order to provide quality care in the health care setting.

- Objectives: Objectives:By the completion of the course, the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate cultural competent approaches when caring for patients
2. Utilize appropriate theoretical frameworks in the implementation of nursing leadership
3. Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team in coordinating cost-effective healthcare
4. Define healthcare reform and the role of the nurse leader during policy changes
5. Discuss ethical, legal and health policy issues affecting cost effective healthcare
- Learning Outcomes: At the completion of the course students will verbalize at least three cultural competent approaches while providing patient care.
At the completion of the course the student will display a knowledge base of the role interdisciplinary team by describing three advantages of collaborative care in the healthcare setting.
Following review of the Center for Medicaid and Medicare service website students will define meaningful use and three implications this may have on their nursing practice.

- Attendance Policy: Course Attendance at First Class Meeting – Policy for Graduate Students: For structured courses, 6000 and above, the College/Campus Dean will set the first-day class attendance requirement.
