  24. Course Description: This course focuses on shock and presentation of guidelines for treatment of shock. The course will define shock as a syndrome with guidelines for diagnosis, recognition of symptoms, pathophysiology, nursing assessment and care, and who is at risk.

The need for this course is to increase the BSN student's knowledge of pathophisiology of a life-threatening event for patients. The student's will encounter patients with shock syndrome in their nursing practice.

    2. The student will develop an overview of the pathophysiology of shock.

    3. The student will be able to describe the clinical presentation and treatment of the various types of shock.

    4. The student can perform immediate intervention in a simulation experience.

    5. The student identifies the patients at risk for shock.
