  24. Course Description: Research for the Master's Thesis in Biomedical Engineering. Students may count up to six hours total maximum towards the M.S. degree. Students must have an approved Master's committee for registration.

All master's degree programs have a dedicated course for M.S. thesis research. Approximately 1/3 of the M.S. students will opt for the thesis route.

  28. What qualifications for training and/or experience are necessary to teach this course? (List minimum qualifications for the instructor.) The thesis director would be expected to hold a Ph.D degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field and actively conducting research in the area.
  29. Objectives: Students will conduct research leading to the completion of the M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering.
  30. Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to design and conduct research at the level of the Master's degree.
  31. Major Topics: Literature review and analysis, experimental design, data analysis, and technical communication skills.

  33. Course Readings, Online Resources, and Other Purchases: Literature and other resource access varies as the research topic varies. All required laboratory supplies would be provided by the thesis director.
  34. Student Expectations/Requirements and Grading Policy: Students would normally submit and successfully defend a Master's thesis at the conclusion of the research.
