    Course Description

    Introduction to the procedures and analytical methods used to evaluate real estate markets and real estate investments. It focuses on the topic of real estate investment primarily from the private investor’s (equity) perspective.

    The course will be taught for the first time in 2011. It is a required course in the MSRE program. We currently are offering a graduate course in basic real estate that has 14 students enrolled, many of whom are not in the MSRE program. Expectations are that as the MSRE program grows, the enrollment in each real estate course will be 30 – 40 students. The fact that the MSRE program is an interdisciplinary program will help to attract students from the other colleges as well. The course will service the MBA, as a required course in the real estate track, and the Master of Science in Finance (MSF), as an elective

    Minimum requirements: Ph.D. in finance, real estate, or a related area and a good understanding of the area of real estate.

    Arrangements will be made for students who have excused absences to make up missed work.

    Plagiarism also consists of passing off as one's own, segments or the total of another person's

    “Punishment for academic dishonesty will depend on the seriousness of the offense and may

    include receipt of an "F" with a numerical value of zero on the item submitted, and the "F" shall

    be used to determine the final course grade. It is the option of the instructor to assign the student

    a grade of "F" of "FF" (the latter indicating dishonesty) in the course.”
