    Course Description

    Practicum for the synthesis of skills, knowledge, and values management of individuals with complex movement and multisystem disorders complemented by direct patient care learning. Restricted to majors. Repeatable for 1 credit hour.

    A. Objectives

    1. Establish professional rapport and demonstrate appropriate verbal and non-verbal

    communication skills

    2. Identify key questions to include in the history and systems review

    3. Obtain a thorough history.

    4. Justify the selection of tests and measures for the initial examination

    5. Perform a reliable, competent initial examination of the patient in an efficient and effective manner.

    6. Determine a differential diagnosis.

    7. Establish a plan of care for a given patient/client including

    a. short and long term goals

    b. duration and frequency of interventions

    c. appropriate referrals

    8. Provide physiological rationale and/or scientific rationale for an efficient, effective plan of care.

    9. Safely perform and interpret patient responses to selected interventions in the plan of care.

    10. Efficiently and effectively, document the history, systems review, examination results, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, and interventions.

    11. Predict the functional outcome for the patient/client with sound scientific rationale for the prediction.

    12. Incorporate individual, cultural, and social differences into the plan of care.

    13. Incorporate legal and ethical considerations into the plan of care.

    14. Demonstrate integration of didactic learning and practical skills across the curriculum in a simulated, clinical situation.
