- Course Description: This course introduces midwifery practice in ambulatory settings, hospitals, and birth centers. Students may be assigned to one or more clinical agencies and preceptors for learning.

- Objectives: 1. Apply the concepts learned in NGR 6205 Primary Care Adolescents and Women NGR 6403 Normal Intrapartum/Newborn Care to their clinical experiences and selected case studies.
2. Demonstrate effective communication skills in addressing sensitive topics related to sexuality, risk-taking behaviors, and abuse.
3. Perform women's health procedures including Pap smears, microscopy, IUD insertion, diaphragm fitting, birth hand maneuvers, placental removal, emergency uterine exploration, cervical inspection, episiotomy cutting and repair, and repair of vaginal and cervical lacerations.
4. Recognize the importance of participation in community and professional organizations that influence the health of women and newborns and support midwifery and advanced nursing practice.
Order appropriate lab and imaging studies to aide in management decisions.
6. Prescribe pharmacotherapeutics and physical therapy as needed to support health or illness recovery.
