  24. Course Description: This course focuses on clinical application of didactic material from the nurse anesthesia curriculum through novice level practice in the role of a nurse anesthetist.

  25. Please briefly explain why it is necessary and/or desirable to add this course: This course is an essential component of the Nurse Anesthetist program and is currently being offered under selected topics.

  28. What qualifications for training and/or experience are necessary to teach this course? (List minimum qualifications for the instructor.) This course will be conducted in the clinical area with one-on-one supervision by an appropriately licensed and credentialed CRNA or anesthesiologist.
  29. Objectives: During this course the student will have the opportunity to:

    1. Demonstrate competency for all previous clinical objectives.

    2. Manage most anesthetic complications with assistance from the CRNA supervisor

    3. Demonstrate integration and application of theoretical knowledge into nurse anesthesia care.

    4. Exhibit coordination and comfort of knowledge base with most technical skills

    5. Write complex care plans and offer spontaneous oral basic care plans.

    6. Require occasional verbal cues for correction of technical skills and frequent directive, supportive cues for anesthetic application by the mentor.

    7. Exhibit efficiency with time management and case preparation.

    8. Recognize potential problems and suggest appropriate intervention.

  30. Learning Outcomes: During this course the student will have the opportunity to:

    1. Demonstrate competency for all previous clinical objectives.

    2. Manage most anesthetic complications with assistance from the CRNA supervisor
