  24. Course Description: Concepts, language and data about financial and economic elements of patient care in a microsystem; skills to obtain, synthesize and utilize information from health economics and health finance using specialized language, concepts and operating rules.

    1. Describe selected relationships of economic concepts to microsystems in health care, especially the concept of reimbursement for health care services.

    2. Describe the (U.S.A.) system of health care financing and delivery arrangements as they impact microsystems, especially Medicare and Medicaid.

    3. Analyze selected health finance factors in public policy affecting health microsystems; these factors include universal access, indigent care, capitated care, and managed care.

    4. Estimate the costs of human, technological and material resources involved in implementing a program change.

    5. Describe principles of product evaluation it their impact on microsystem budgeting process.

    6. Evaluate the relationship between healthcare financing and the regulatory and licensure/certification processes in healthcare.
