Graduate - New Degree Program Development
There are several steps involved in the development of a new graduate degree program. First determine if the Program to be created will result in a new CIP Code for USF, or if it falls under an existing CIP. Once that is determined, follow the steps below.
NEW GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAM UNDER A NEW CIP

NEW GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAM UNDER EXISTING CIP
To add an additional degree option under an existing CIP.

Submit the required signed form in PDF and the draft Graduate Catalog Copy in Word to firstname.lastname@example.org by the posted deadline.
Once approved by Council, OGS will forward the Proposal to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) for addition to the SUS-USF Inventory
Once the State has added the new program to the SUS-USF Inventory, a letter of approval is sent to the Provost and OIE. OIE will confirm final approval to OGS.
Creation of a Major Code: Once the Office of Graduate Studies receives notification of the approval, OGS will notify the Registrar and the Office of Admissions so that a major code may be created in Banner and the Admissions Application may be updated to include the new Program.
Graduate Catalog Update: The Graduate Catalog database is then also updated to include the new Program in the next Catalog.
