  Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

A benefit of being a Graduate Assistant (Class Code 9191, 9182, 9183, 9184 or 9185) is eligibility to participate in the Student Insurance Program. To be appointed as a Graduate Assistant, you must be admitted to a graduate degree program, be classified as a degree seeking student, and meet the requirements of the Graduate School (i.e., be full-time, 9 hours in the fall and spring; 6 hours in the summer; and maintain a 3.00 GPA). The University will pay up to $600/year of the health insurance premium for individual coverage of those employees on a .50 FTE appointment who elect coverage under the USF Student Health Insurance Plan. The employer contribution will be paid directly to the insurer. The employee is responsible for payment of the remainder of the insurance premium for coverage selected by the employee.
