Message from the Graduate Dean
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the University of South Florida (USF) and your postdoctoral experience. Postdoctoral scholars are a vital part of the research and education infrastructure of our university and we look forward to partnering with you to help propel USF to new heights of excellence! The University of South Florida is a member of the National Postdoctoral Association that defines postdoctoral scholars as those professionals engaged in a temporary period of mentored research and scholarly training for the purpose of acquiring the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his or her choosing. We are dedicated to making sure this becomes a reality by providing you exemplary resources to make your years at USF a success.
We are very proud to to introduce you to our Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA). This office opened in Fall, 2009 and is located within the USF Graduate School. The OPA serves as the administrative and academic center of excellence for postdoctoral scholars across USF. Through the OPA we will work with colleges and departments to build collaboration and support, provide governing policies on postdoctoral training, serve as your advocate and liaison to other offices and units throughout the university, and provide resources and professional development workshops for you and your mentors. Our goal is for each postdoctoral scholar to have an exemplary professional and personal development experience while at USF.
Please visit our OPA website at www.grad.usf.edu/postdoc or contact us at postdoc@usf.edu to learn more about our resources and exciting opportunities for you at the USF. The Office is led by me, our Associate Dean Dr. Richard Pollenz, and our Program Manager Eric Andersson.
Once again, let me welcome you to our exciting university and hope you will contact us at the OPA so we can help ensure your success as postdoctoral scholar. I am pleased to welcome you to our family of learners!
Karen D. Liller, PhD
Dean of the Graduate School and
Associate Vice President for Research & Innovation
