Graduate Concentrations Processing

Deadlines and meeting dates


Procedures
 
 NEW CONCENTRATIONS
     Complete the Concentration Approval Form
     attach a 250-word abstract that briefly explains
        i.  why the concentration is needed
        ii.  what the primary goals are.
        Include
         iii. the name of the program (major) that will offer it,
         iv. the requirements,
         v. total hours,
         vi. Budget Acct number,
     attach the corresponding Graduate Catalog Copy showing the
        changes that will be needed if the proposal is approved

   CONCENTRATION CHANGES
    Complete the Concentration Approval Form
    Attach a memo that includes
        i. what the requirements were,
       ii. what has been changed, and
       iii. why it is needed
    attach the corresponding Graduate Catalog Copy showing the
        changes that will be needed if the proposal is approved

Routing:
     Faculty creates proposal
     Faculty submits proposal to Department, then to College
        Curriculum Committee (if applicable)  note: colleges have own
        internal procedures and deadlines; check with college for
        information

     College Curriculum Committee submits to College Associate Dean
     College Associate Dean submits to Graduate School for
        preparation for Graduate Council review
     Graduate Council Curriculum Committee reviews proposal

     Graduate School notifies faculty of approval/disapproval
