Current ETD Deadlines

The following are the current ETD deadlines for the three most current semesters. Future dates may change from time to time. Please check here at the beginning of each semester to ensure you are on track.

ETD Workshop
We strongly suggest completing the Workshop the semester prior to defending/submitting your ETD so that you have all you'll need to prepare the document as you write/format. There are both online and in-person options.

Summer 2017


Please Note: Only items that are bolded are our Deadlines - the other dates are included for your convenience.

  Date Deadline/Event
  May 15 Semester Begins (Office of the Registrar)
  June 9 Deadline to Register for Graduation through OASIS (Office of the Registrar)
The Registrar's Office may change these dates - visit the Registrar's Academic Calendar to verify.
  June 30 DEADLINE | Submit Thesis for Review ¹ ²
    1:    Complete ETD Registration (if not completed by 5:00pm on the deadline, you may not be included in the Commencement program)
    2:    Submit final Committee-Approved Thesis in PDF to ProQuest
    3:    Submit the Certificate of Approval Packet to Graduate Studies (ALN 226):
               •   Certificate of Approval
               •   1st-page of Plagiarism Check
         Note: Students may send the completed packet to etd@grad.usf.edu
  July 7 DEADLINE | Submit Dissertation for Review ¹ ²
    1:    Complete ETD Registration
           (if not completed by the deadline, you may be omitted from the Commencement booklet)
    2:    Submit final Committee-Approved Dissertation in PDF to ProQuest
    3:    Submit the Certificate of Approval Packet to Graduate Studies (ALN 226):
               •   Certificate of Approval
               •   1st-page of Plagiarism Check
               •   SED Survey Completion Certificate
         Note: Students may send the completed packet to etd@grad.usf.edu
  August 2 Final Clearance of ETDs ³
Last day to make revisions and have the final ETD approved.
  August 5 Commencement (Commencement Office)
  ¹ The final approved thesis/dissertation and all required forms and surveys must be submitted by the listed deadline. Students that miss the deadline will not be approved to graduate and will need to defer to the next semester.
  ² Students that meet the final submission deadline but do not receive approval of the ETD must complete the required revisions specified by the Office of Graduate Studies, resubmit the ETD and receive approval by the final clearance deadline.
  ³ The final clearance deadline is not the last day to submit, but the last date by which the revised ETD must be approved by the Office of Graduate Studies.
  Save $25 by submitting your ETD more than 2 weeks before the listed DEADLINE.
